The idea
What happened to the crazy ideas? There was a time when the industry built Versuchsträger: machines meant to test technology, free of every commercial and political constraint. The C111 series was exactly that, Mercedes at the end of the sixties. Today that species is almost extinct. Cars have turned into appliances, and Sony builds them now. So I asked myself what the homage would be: a naturally aspirated V8 in modern form, the sixties and the twenties in one machine. Nobody ever decided the C111 was finished. This is what it became. Except the rear. Still undecided.
