The idea

GT1 is one of the all-time great racing series, and it produced some of the best looking cars ever seen: the Porsche 911 GT1, the McLaren F1 GTR, the Mercedes CLK GTR. As a kid I owned all three as Tamiya RCs. BMW built the engine that won Le Mans. BMW had a prototype. Allegedly they never finished their GT1. Or did they?
